Train Driver Job Psychometric Tests
Psychometric tests are designed to measure some aspect of your mental performance. Results can reveal your peak and typical performance, an indication of your potentials.
The trainee train driver assessment is structured to assess and choose people who are most suited for the job of driving trains. The tests provide a level playing ground for everyone, irrespective of age, race or sex, to be assessed based on key performance characteristics required for effective discharge of train driving duties.
Tests are administered by professionals at approved test centres and include the following:
- A mechanical comprehension test.
- Trainability for rules and procedures tests.
- A test of concentration.
- A reaction and co-ordination test.
- A structured interview.
Tests are administered in two formats:
1. A written assessment
2. A computer based assessment.
• Progression from one test to the other depends on a successful outcome of the previous. As the test progresses, you will discover that candidates whose scores fall below required standards are continuously dropped along the way.
• Each part of the assessment features practise questions for you to work through. Test administrators are there to help you with any difficulties you might have prior to start of the test.
TEST SCORINGTwo systems of scoring are in use. For the mechanical comprehension test as well as the trainability for rules and regulation tests, you are awarded marks for correct answers.
On the test of concentration as well as the reaction and co-ordination test, you are penalised for wrong answers.
TEST TIMINGStrict timing is in place during test sessions and time constraint is a major factor for most candidates. Speed and accuracy are highly essential for a successful outcome. This reinforces the need to be adequately prepared.
