The role of a train driver requires a high level of professionalism, it is fulfilling, offering job security.


As a fully qualified train driver, you will be required to:
 
  • Drive trains in a safe and economical manner in accordance to laid down rules.
  • Comply with the company policy on general safety when carrying out your duties.
  • Maintain satisfactory standards in your knowledge of routes, traction (train) and professional driving.
  • Adhere to strict policies on drugs and alcohol.
     Always report to duty fully fit and in complete gear at specified locations.
  • Take part in scheduled in-house training sessions that are designed to update your knowledge of company operations and policies.
  • Carry out emergency procedures when required to do so.
  • Prepare and drive trains safely employing techniques set out in procedures.
  • Locate and where possible rectify faults on trains.
  • Undergo assessments as prescribed in your company’s competence management system.
